Wow, finding a good connection is Spain is difficult, but boy do I have some stories for you guys! So, since the last time I blogged I have been living with my host family since Sunday. They are great! The food is a bit hard to adjust to, mainly because everything is soaked in olive oil, but I'll survive. I'm going to spare you guys the misery of reading about Toledo and how beautiful it was, and give you what you really want....the scoop on anything funny. (I'll put pictures at the bottom with that stuff, if you are interested.) An important thing to know though is that all the streets of Sevilla are lined with beautiful orange trees, trees that are at this time baring fruit...I promise it is important for a later story :)

| The view from Calle Betis |
So we are now officially in Sevilla and taking classes, and I am officially three blocks away from the biggest party street in Sevilla, calle Betis. Now, understand that in Spanish culture you come home in the middle of the day, sleep about four hours, go back to work, and then stay out until 5....every day. (They know how to have a good time!) Needless to say, I've adapted quite nicely to this new found way of life. The first night here, I went out with another American, Gerry. He has been here for a few weeks and I asked him to show me the cool bars. While out, I met Thomas and Jackie...my soon to be party buddies from Texas. Well they took me everywhere that night and I arrived safely back at my apartment at the decent hour of 5:30. Class was rough the next day : (
Alright so, the next night I go out with Jackie and Thomas again, and Thomas is determined to show me a gay bar in Sevilla. Well, this is where it gets weird. The bar we decide on is a dance club (or so we thought) called Ithica. You walk up to a door, no windows mind you, and ring a doorbell where a man comes out to see if you are cool enough to enter. (I kind of felt like I was on Beerfest) Well we walk in, and the bar is cool...nice lights, greek statues as decorations, and then we see the VIP sign. We go to the back and there is a porno playing of a guy in a santa hat...oddly enough this did not tip us off as a warning. We look upstairs and I couldn't believe it...it was a hookup room! Well, about five minutes later we were long gone from the dance club Ithica. Well we get back to Calle Betis and are looking for Jackie who decided to stay. It is now 530. We walk by this group of people and the little dumpy one asked us for a cigarette. We told the scary little he/she that we didnt have one and they proceeded to spit at us and called us "putas de madres" (look it up kiddos, it ain't good). We start walking away, and realize they are following so we run! We run to a large group of people and thankfully Jackie is there. The he/she and her posse walk up and start calling Jackie "rubio" (the word for a blonde man). She gets pissed and starts yelling at them. My pansy ass is terrified that I'm gonna get my ass beat by this little nugget so Thomas and I persuade Jackie to leave. We are walking to big groups of people to get home. Well the last big group we stop at, Thomas knows and we stop and talk awhile, keeping an eye on little angry lesbian the whole time. Well, the scary ass people jump in their car (here's the part where the oranges come in) and when they drive by us, the throw oranges! Little shits luckily have no aim and the oranges fell to the street.
