A Day of Independance

First it must be said that I am sitting in my Spanish homes living room and listening to my host mom's daughter belt out Christina Aguilera's Not Myself Tonight. I'm not quite sure she is ready for the big leagues yet.

Well it was quite eventful for the Americans in Sevilla yesterday and last night. Jessie was waiting for Andrea on the bridge yesterday afternoon and a tall man with dreadlocks asked her for directions to the bar. Well, she told him which street to go down and he left...but only for a minute. He came back...wanting a kiss. Well, Jessie of course said no, and the man responds "But we are in Spain!". He asks for her facebook, and when she says she has no internet he takes  her blackberry and says "I see the internet on your phone." Jessie takes her phone and says she has to go meet her friend, only to find a text from the curious Frenchman later that reads something along the lines of, "It was nice to meet you today, we need to meet back at the place we first saw each other. Meet me at 4 o'clock." He dialed his number from her phone so he had her number!!!
A night in Spain
Now, we move to last night's adventure. Well, I finally drag Tenesha, Cedric, Julie, Claudia, and Stefan out with me to Calle Betis. We start out with a few rounds of drinks, and then head across the river to another bar called Isabel. This little nugget walks out of the bar and starts to speak with us and he seems pretty excited about something. He was speaking so fast that we have to get Claudia (she is fluent) to translate for him. Well he is yapping for a little while and then Claudia looks embarrassed. She says, "He said he likes black people." We all look nervously to see how Cedric and Tenesha will react and Cedric says, "Shit, lets take a picture with him." I must say, it was the highlight of that little Spanish nugget, as well as my night. At the end of the night we all went our separate ways, and I walked Stefan home because he lives pretty far from Calle Betis...and since he is Dr. Masanet's (our teacher here)18 year old son....I wasn't taking any chances : ) So stupid me wasn't thinking...now I get to walk 2.5 miles back to my place at 4 in the morning! Sevilla is the safest city in Spain, but don't think for a second the Charlie's Angel in me wasn't ready for some action. I had my fists clenched and was ready to scream "fuego" (Spanish for fire)...hahaha don't they tell girls to yell that in defense class instead of help? Obviously I arrived safe and sound at my host families home.
Well, I guess it is about time to get to studying for my test tomorrow...Happy 4th of July everyone!
